Hari Rajagopal

Hari is a seasoned professional in the financial services sector, with over 15 years of experience focused on the intersection of blended finance, impact finance, and sustainable/climate finance. He has deep expertise in raising capital for growth organizations from both Indian and international financial institutions, including multilateral and development finance institutions. His experience spans a wide range of financial instruments, including debt, equity, quasi-debt, risk participation through credit guarantees, and technical assistance.
He has a proven track record in designing innovative financial structures to facilitate capital distribution and attract additional investment from financial institutions. He has also built non-linear funding partnerships for originators through securitization, direct assignment, co-lending, and business correspondent channels. His expertise includes portfolio management strategy and reporting for bespoke finance, green finance, impact, sustainability, and ESG initiatives.
During his five-year tenure at Samunnati, a new-generation agri-value chain finance provider, Hari held key positions. These included Group Treasurer & Head of Strategic Alliances and Head of Capital Markets. His work encompassed all aspects of his expertise, contributing significantly to the organization’s growth.
Before joining Samunnati, Hari served as India Portfolio Manager for the Rabobank Foundation, the social impact arm of Rabobank. In this role, he supported high-risk enterprises and innovative ventures by providing credit guarantees, enabling their linkage with commercial lenders. He also structured financing solutions for value chains that connect smallholder farmers to major food and agribusiness companies. Earlier in his career, Hari worked within Rabobank’s Wholesale Banking division, managing a large portfolio of food and agribusiness corporate clients across North and East India. His multi-product experience includes working capital, trade finance, term lending, structured finance, and capital structuring advisory services. He also managed Rabobank’s micro-finance portfolio in India and began his career as an associate in the large corporate banking group at ICICI Bank. Hari holds an MBA in Finance from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT), New Delhi, and a BA (Hons) in Economics from Kirori Mal College, Delhi University.
